Recommended for larger cavities where a filling may not be suitable, an inlay or onlay is used to repair the tooth’s biting surface and is generally made from a porcelain material which means they are very strong, natural looking and long lasting.
An inlay or onlay is used where the damage to the tooth is quite significant but doesn’t necessarily warrant the use of a full dental crown. Our highly-skilled dentist will scan your tooth and then the inlay/onlay will be created by an external laboratory ready to be attached during you next visit with us.
When the restoration is ready, we will invite you back to Westdale Dental for the procedure to be completed. We use a very strong clinical adhesive to attach the inlay/onlay and check to make sure that all matches correctly with your existing teeth. Your treatment is then complete.
Inlays and onlays should be cared for in the same way as any dental restoration with diligent brushing and flossing. We will also keep a close eye on any teeth restorations you may have during your regular examinations with our team.
